    Hi,

I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. There are so many forums, so I'm hoping I've posted this in the correct one :)

I'm running WinXP and my MSN Messenger keeps freezing. It will start up and work fine but when I actually open the window to see who's online and offline it will freeze and crash.

I've tried to repair and un-install/re-install on many occasions but it never works :( This is MSN 7.5, I've just updated to the new MSN 8 Beta, but it's doing exactly the same thing.

All I can do now is leave it logged on, but don't open the main window. That way it works and people can send me MSN Messages. I can also right click on the MSN Icon and 'Send an Instant Message'. So it's just opening the main window that will make it crash.

    Any ideas???

    Thanks!
    Matt

well.....it could be many things. ...you got to tell me more.

But it sounds like its crashing trying to access the internet.
Get spybot..its free scan your computer with it. just google it.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've recently downloaded many anti-spyware/virus protection programmes as per advise from this forum...and that cleaned all my viruses up (showing many hijak this logs), so I don't think it's that.

Also I don't think it's the Internet connection as it only crashes if I open the main MSN window. It happily stays online and I can still send messages to people....but the moment I open that window it freezes :(

Is there any particular information I could provide that may help?

    Thanks!
    Matt

Yeah I'm using MSN 8, but only because I was having problems with my MSN 7.5 :( MSN 8 also works fine at my work.

I will try and swap back, but doubt it will help.

I'm using Zone Alarm as my firewall.
