Hey, so I've been trying to backup Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash but on my standalone DVD player (a GoVideo DV2130) they both freeze at the beginning of the movie (during the beginning credits). They freeze up and stop playing, just frozen on that screen. If I fast forward I can get past that frozen screen and successfully watch the movies, and the quality is fantastic other than the problem with it freezing on me. I believe that this has to do with multiple angles in the movies because both freeze when a multi angle shot is either starting or taking place. My DVD player puts a little multi angle logo in the upper right part of the screen to tell me this.

So, I have a Pioneer DVR-A08. I am using Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R discs. I burned at 4x one time and 8x the other time, both yielded similar results. I use DVD Decrypter to get the disc on my hard drive and then I used DVD Shrink to get it down to size and then DVD Decrypter again to burn them.

*edit... oh yeah, they both play fine using PowerDVD on my computer using the Pioneer DVD burner I mentioned earlier....*

Any help would be appreciated. All my other burns come out perfect, but these two movies are annoying the hell out of me.

    Thanks everyone,
    David

You didn't mention how you're backing them up.

Yes, the same setup works perfect for like 50 other backups. So it's for sure, a problem with these movies. I actually went away for a couple days and my problem backups played perfect at my friends house, so I suppose it's my GoVideo DVD player that has the problem with them. Interesting, I guess that's what I get for paying $99 for a dvd/vcr player.

To the first poster, I am doing full disc backups. With everything, I shrink the menus way down and shrink the extras way down, remove any non-english audio tracks, and that's it.

    thanks,
    David
