Can someone help me add another operating system to my computer I have Partition Magic 8/BootMagic.Ive got the HDD partitioned I just cant work out how to install the XPPRO disc ive got onto it.
would help if i could, but i only know about doing it on different hard drives. but i'll try to wing it a bit. when you go to install XP, it should give you a selection of which partition you want to install it. say you have 2 partitions: C and D. C has your current OS, D is empty. you tell the XP setup to install on D and there go you. you can choose from the bios which one you want to boot from, although i believe there is software that allows you to do so.
the bios sees a partitioned drive as 1 not multiple as it is hardware not software that the partition is
you could do it that way with multiple hard drives though, right? how would you do it in teh case of multiple partitions on one drive?
Ive been reading the help file that came on the XPRO CD but the setup is way different. I had to download the .ISO as my CD burner has for some reason stopped working ( I have the original CD so not really pirating) Ive got it mounted on a virtual drive but it wont auto boot at startup.
a virtual drive is all on your hard drive. you're bios won't recognize it and therefore won't boot from it.
Yeah that was my main problem. When reading some documentation on the installation I found out the it has its own partitioner and everything so thanks for your help guys but ive got it to work.
one prob im having though is that my speakers dont work at all with PRO (still work on other OS) I keep getting an error saying that its being used or is not installed correctly or something like that any help?
