I’ve been using voblanker edit/clean my dvd backups before compressing/burning for a few years now. I've run into a handful of movies that contain mutiangle cells and are not compatible with vobblanker in the past year. despite being able to process the movie the multiangle cells make the movie skip backwards anywhere from a few seconds to a few minuets while continuing to play. I like vobblanker because it not only clears discontinuity flags and dummy cells; it also allows you to cut out extras, trailers, and any other trash you don't want. fixvts is the other more popular freeware program I use but it doesn't allow you to cut out features you don't want and it also does not support multiangle cells. I’ve been reading through threads looking for a substitute editing program that has all the functionality of vobblanker and also supports multiangle cells. one that was mentioned was pgcedit; I've been messing with it for the past few hours trying to figure out how it works, reading guides ect... and I'm still lost. Is pgcedit the right program for the job or is there a better less complicated option out there?
When you say kill playback do you mean simply disabling menu buttons or actually deleting the unwanted content? As far as I can tell all the pgcedit guides I've read assume that you have already deleted unwanted content and only want to disable the menu buttons that lead to the aforementioned unwanted content. I am attempting to use pgcedit (or another program) in order to cut out trailers, previews, extras ect. The only reason I want to get rid of said content is to improve quality and reduce processing time while using rebuilder. Fixvts doesn’t support mulitangle cells so if I have to process with fixvts after pgcedit then I’m back to square one with mismatched pointers and skips during playback.
If you're uncomfortable with that way you can always run the trace mode and blank what you don't want.
