Ok this is a two part discussion. First I wanted to discuss the multidisk functions of Qoob Pro. From what I've read in other threads its impossible due to the LID switch plug being removed. The only way to get onto disk to is to get a save file in that this. Ok here is what happened to me. I recently burned myself a copy of MGS Twin Snakes. I beat the first disk. It asked to me to put in the second disk so I'm like what the hell, lets burn disk 2 and test it. To my suprise I was able to continue. So is it that some people have there plug put in wrong? Does this only work with some games? If so which ones? Second I would like to know about Super Smash Bros Melee. I had to hunt this one down. But after a while I was able to find it and download it within a day, burned it and popped it into my GC. It was PAL version so I configured the GC video mode to PAL and it didnt work, then to 480p, still nothing, finally NTSC, BINGO it worked. But there is a slight very annoying problem, I'm missing the bottom of the screen, I'd say about 1 inch of the display is not showing, and the overall picture is stretched. Anyone know how to fix this? Of course there isn't any DRE's of anysort. Thanks to anyone that can answer these long and tiresome questions.
I'm guessing that the multidisc feature is exactly what you think it is, but since I've just recently started tinkering with my GameCube, I don't know enough about the other mod chips to tell you otherwise. As for your second question, I have some PAL games from when my Dad went overseas and I've gotten them to work on my NTSC GC by using the force video mode option on the Qoob Pro to force the GC into sending out a NTSC signal rather than a PAL signal. Most US TVs are only made to accept NTSC signals, and from how it sounds, your GC is still sending out a PAL signal. Try setting the "force video" option to NTSC on the Qoobs configuration options and see if that works. Also, from what I've read it doesn't work perfectly on all games, so that might be your problem as well.
Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing the new multidisk option might have been updated in the new bios 1.3c. Maybe thats why I can play 2 disk games without the annoying save method. I will try and make my Qoob on NTSC.
Something similar happened to me when I played the PAL version of Budokai 3 on PS2. I ended up missing like a good inch and a half of the screen
