I just got a new memup mediadisk fx 1tb. I connected it to my laptop which is also pretty new and advanced. after the HDD installed I get a message balloon in windows that says "Your device could be faster if connected to High speed USB Port, click here for more info" when I click i get a message box showing me a lot of USB ports I don't know which is which but it tells me to connect to one marked in bold. I have tried all of my 4 usb ports and i still get the same message. and transferring stuff form laptop to HDD takes ages. I have been transferring stuff for the last 24 hours and im not finished yet. Can anyone please help. I cant seem to get any form memup website and I might as well ask the wall as to get any helpful support form pixmania
It sounds like you are connecting to a usb 1.0 connection. How old is this laptop? What is the make and model number? Are the chipset drivers updated?
It's only a few months old. and my old media HDD worked fine. I am only getting the message with this new HDD. I am almost certain that my USB is 2.0
I found the answer. I actually had to add one of those USB Hubs with the extra USB Ports. when connecting through that and not directly to the laptop, it worked fine. I cant understand why I had to do this but it worked
Hi daveman16, a friend of mine is thinking of getting one of these units but he has a Mac. Do you know if it's Mac compatable as I can't seem to find the answer on the net.
This problem is almost always caused by a combination of a slightly loose cable and a slightly loose USB port...by using the hub, you can get around this a bit...or you could have just used a better USB cable.
