    Hello.

I'm having a problem with getting Windows XP to see both of my two external hard drives at once.

I've assigned the drives different letters, and Windows has no trouble recognizing them when they are plugged in individually. But when one is already plugged in and I plug in the second, the first one seems to disappear. Any help or ideas of what to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you going through a USB Hub or directly plugging them into the USB ports on your PC?

I've been plugging them directly into USB ports on my PC.

Would using a USB Hub rectify this problem? If so, are they any hubs in particular that you would recommend?

No a USB hub would not neciseraly solve the proble, the reason i asked you that was because if you were using a USB hub it may not have been powered by the mains.... But that shouldnt be the problem as your going direct into the ports on your motherboard...

Hmmm.. Not sure yet, it could be a software problem, by that i mean your windows operating system could have a problem... You could try re-installing windows or if you have another system try them both on that....
