every once in a while while surfing the internet IE will go crazy and open like 50 IE windows. As i close one more open in its place. There doesn't seem to be one thing that is causing this. it happens while on different web sites. i have used adaware to scan the computer. i also have zone alarm and NAV both of which are up to date. i have no idea what is causing this. sometimes i have to reboot my computer to get all the windows closed and sometimes i am able to close one of the windows, which seems to be the "trigger" and then i can close all of the windows one by one.

anyone had this problem or know how to get rid of it?

Most likely, spyware/adware/malware components were installed onto your comp without your consent. There are many ways for them to sneak onto your computer. Some may install them thru a "free" program (such as Kazaa, Grokster, etc. The software developer(s) include these components to offset the cost of distributing them/developing them. Most people just click thru the EULA (End User License Agreement) that partly explains installing the "ad supported" components. They prey on people not reading the eula and/or not knowing computer security. Now if that's not the case, some web sites you visit, including, but not limited to are: porn sites, gambling sites, joke sites, etc.

For more information on spyware/adware,visit http://download.com and click on [bold]Spyware Center[/bold] (middle of page).

Here are some software to help you get rid of these buggers.
