Music on dvd disk to play in cd player

Hi, I ran out of cd-r so I burned some music onto a dvd-r disk in mp3 format but it won't play in my cd player or my dvd player, is it possible to put music onto a dvd disk that will play in cd player?

 

DVDs cannot be played in CD players.

 

Some DVD players will accept DVD-R (or any written disc) with mp3 files. My LG player will, but my Sony DVD recorder will not. A CD player will definitely not play a DVD.
