i have recently downloaded a large movie with 5.1 audio encoded with the ac3 codec. it plays fine on my desktop running win98, pII 300Mhz, 128 MB ram, piece of crap video card. in order to get the file to play i have to download an ac3 codec or i got no audio. this is all fine but when i put the file on my laptop it won't play. everytime i try to play it the program that is trying to play it has performed an illegal action and the program terminates, my laptop is running win2K pro, PIV 1.8Ghz, 512 MB RAM and 32MB radion 7500 video card, i have same divx and ac3 codecs installed on both but on laptop i get error and on desktop i don't, i know it's not the file transfer because when i select file over network on laptop to pull over little preview window gets same error and windows has to reboot cause blue screen of death so i disable view as webpage in folders. but i'm playing the file from desktop over network pls help
