Hey new member here. My xbox 360 is over one year old, about a month ago i had a friend from work flash it and it was playing backups perfectly. Two days ago i took it to my brothers house to play madden 2010 and when i brought it back home it said open tray!! i put an original in and it booted up, then put the backup back in and it played. I got off work yesterday wanting to play and it did the open tray again as soon as it booted up, does this with games, originals, backups, dvds and cds!!! I took the xbox apart opened up the drive and tried it like that. The laser turns on and starts to spin for 2 seconds then stops. Then it says open tray! This sucks but if anyone could help it would be appreciated! I have a benq drive.... thanks

Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip and some lense cleaner. If that fails search for the term "POT Calibration" which should fix it.

I would recommend not attempting the pot calibration without a multimeter.

Yeah, sounds like it needs a cleaning and a pot calibration to me.

absolutly!!! if you do that than it will only use the laser to make sure the right disc is inserted, than it will run everything of your hd. saving your laser

in the uk you would call them cotton buds for cleaning your ears.
have you tried a cd/dvd cleaning disc??they have the little brushes on the bottom.may be worht a go
