i just finished a book report, tell me what you guys think, and tell my if you find anything that needs to be fixed --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Hostile Hospital, by Lemony Snicket Pages: 1-51 43min Summary: In these chapters Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, are on the run from the police. They are on a run from the police because they have been accused of being murders (this is a continuation of the last book). The Baudelaires eventually find a store, and decide to go into it. When inside they find out about a volunteer group called “Volunteers Fighting Disease”. The Baudelaires get very interested with the name because it has the initials of “V.F.D” and “V.F.D” was the initials of a terrible secret their Count Olaf had. A V.F.D van eventually comes up to pick up some stuff. When the van is leaving back to the hospital they work at, the Baudelaires get on a bored the van because one of the V.F.D people think they are one of them. When they arrive at the hospital a message from the intercom comes about a job opening for any one who wanted to work at the hall of records(the place were people who’ve visited, records are kept). The Baudelairs rush to ask if they may do it because they want to learn something about a person names Jacques Snicket who may have visited the hospital. Response: My first thought on the book was, that it was more interesting from the last. Due the fact, it starts with lots of action that captured my attention and made me feel like not putting the book down. I really liked the illustrations too since it was a bonus and, because it helped me portray the characters in my head much better. I also found some new vocabulary in this book like on page 27, when the shopkeeper shouts “egad”, I know I’ve heard that before and had a good guess on what it meant, but I was never actually sure till it said it in the book and I decided to look it up. I found it ironic that when the Baudelaires were in the van, everyone called each other brother and sister, and the Baudelaires were really brother and sisters. I found a simile on page 7 when the author said, “Count Olaf is like a vicious dog”. Even though I have said many of the things I liked, I’ve found something’s could have been done much better, like the discretion. I found that their wasn’t to much description in these books like when the author was describing Count Olaf on page 10 all he said was “Count Olaf, is a greedy treacherous villain”, like that too me was a terrible description to him. Since in the previews books, the author gave more detail about him; however, I guess the author may not have to describe the characters in complete detail anymore. Due to the fact it is the eighth book and if you have read all the books before that you should probably be able to have a could idea on how he character looks like. Really all I’ve wanted in the book was a lot of action and I’ve found much of that, so I’m very happy with how the book right now and I hope the author makes more great books like this.
I think its good, not sure ,I barely read to book 6. Thanks dude845 now I know what V.F.D means. P.S what grade are you in?
