    Hi,
my cd-r doesn't recognize any cd's except the recovery disc. When I looked into properties of the disc I put in the drive it says it's an unmounted disc and i have no idea what that is or what i could do to make it work.

    Hi.

Are these blank disks not being recognized or already recorded disks?

Try uninstalling the drive with Device Manager:

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
Click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.
Click the + beside DVD/CD ROM Drives.
Right click on the name of your CD drive and select Uninstall.
    Restart the system.

Upon restart the OS should reinstall your CD drive.

I've already done this 3 times and still.......nothing. And no...they're not blank cd's. These cd's used to work ok but all of a sudden ...they don't.

Does it recognize other pressed disks like original music CDs, software CDs or is it all CDs other than the recovery disks? Did the recovery disks come with the system or did you have to burn them yourself? Is this on a laptop or desktop system. Is there another drive you can put in the system to test. Is there another system where you can install the drive not working to see if it works in that system?

Have you tried updating the driver?
