my cd writer won't work anymore... i think?? can sumone plz help me

    my cd burner won't read any cds at all. burner or cd-r's or cd-rw's, it jus wont read them. whenever i put the cd in it takes about 10 seconds to try to read and then it just gives a blinking light. and i've tried to leave the cd in the drive for about 5 mins and i took it out it was all scratched up on the back. this is the second time this has happened to me. can someone plz help me? plz i really need help with this

    First thing I would try is cleaning the laser lens. It's always a possibility that there's dust on the lens. Get one of those lens cleaning discs and try it. If that doesn't help then obviously it's something else wrong. If the burner is old it could be that the laser has worn out.

    First, it worries me that after you eject the disc's they are all scratched up on the back. I assume you mean on the top of the CD, and not on the bottom.

    This would indicate that the Spindle motor is raising too high and pushing the CD up against the top of the drive. A sign of a defective drive.

    I would normally ask if you were able to play a normal Audio CD, or read a Data CD. But if the CD's are being scratched, I would not waste the time. Just send the drive back for a replacement or service.
