I recently installed a Cendyne DVR-105 (DVDR-RW) on my pc. I'm running Windows XP and using Nero for burning. My drive reads and writes CDs but won't read or write DVDs. Can someone please help me with this?

    The latest, v. 5.5.10.20. I've also installed v 1.30 of the drive's firmware.
The drive is daisy-chained to another CDR and I also have Easy CD Creater 5 installed along with Nero. Could either of those be causing a conflict? I wouldn't think so, if the new DVD-RW is still able to read and write CDs...

Have you got DVD-RW as Primary or Secondary ?

    Both CD/DVD drives are Secondary.

Well my previous question is probably irrelevant anyway cos you should be able to read a DVD at least...

    Hhmmmm

Are you quite conversant with Nero cos I'm taking that you've gone into Nero and under...CHOOSE RECORDER you've only got the one choice (ie; CD-RW drive that you may have).

    Maybe ?

Actually, the DVD-RW shows up in Nero as well. The drive just won't recognize any DVD media I put into it, either DVD movies or blank DVDs.

I'd consider taking the drive back personally.

My brother in law installed my Pioneer (actually Benq) DVR a04/104 many moons ago but I remember the jumper settings might have been wrong & it wasn't recognized then he removed it , altered jumper settings & reinstalled.
Nero read it as a Pioneer DVR 104 straight off.
    Nero 5.5.9.9. under WinXP Pro

I think that was the case anyway...
