My Comp Died

    ok here is my problem i was surfing comp died my power supply works and fan spins but nothing happens i was thinking that maybe my cpu died but am not sure any ideas. Here are my specs

    CPU Fan Type: FAN ,77.5*60.5*64.5MM
    Power Supply: PS, 250 WATT
    CPU: CPU, ATHLON XP 1600
    MB: MB AM37 1.2 AWD 462P PS2 W/LAN
    Memory: MEM, DDR-RAM 1024
    Video: VIDEO, INTEGRATED
    HDD: HDD, 40 GB
    LAN: LAN, 10/100 integrated

    socket 462 motherbaord

    its an emachine ive used it for years and hope ii can salvage it. thanks in advance.

    Im going threw basics first, make sure the monitor is plugged in completely, make sure that the CMOS battery is inserted properly, HDD is connected, BIOS chip correct. reply back with updates.

    yup i checked all that but am still getting nothing my hd isnt fried i tried it on another machine and it was still workin. how do i check the bios chip?

    im not really sure but i think if you get nothing when it turns on then the motherboard is fried or just the CPU

    how do i check the bios chip?

    I Think I might go along with what you thought yourself. Try a different PSU, if you can. You might want to go up a grade to 350 or more. Its only a thought.

    this happened to my cpu, i left it on overnight an the next morning it wouldnt switch on, i did a thorough examination on it and i found that the processor had been fried, one of the pins was all black and the part of the motherboard where that pin went was also all black,
    check the processor, it may save you allot of hassle
