does your motherboard see the drive & is there an exclamation mark in the device manager? is there an error code when trying to access the drive??

in the device manager, uninstall the cdrom drive, restart windows so can reload the driver for the cdrom

Ok, I have the same problem. My CD drive won't play anything, and when I goto my computer, there is no CD drive icon. If I check device manager, it does show up.

So to fix it I have to goto the device manager and uninstall my CD drive, but here's where I have a question.
If I uninstall it then reboot my computer, will it automatically re-install itself? I don't have an install disk or anything for my drive, so I don't wanna mess it up.
