even now after rebooting over 4 times all you get on the desktop is just the on line wallpaper screen saver,no matter how many times i would click the mouse nothing is coming onto the screen,i had about 25 short cuts on my desktop now none of them will appear,i need some serious help from someone,i don't know anyone that i can turn to luck though iv'e connected up my cousins old pc which i can use while am getting help,is anyone available,so if you send me the link which goes to my pc how will i get it,its on the other pc where nothing is on the screen other then the on line wall paper screen saver.i suppose if you send it i will have to just keep looking on the page by the numbers to see if its moved from 1 then i know maybe someone can help me out before i go to bed tonight,i have my work reports on there which need to be submitted in by Wednesday,

Aww man I don't know what you got but maybe you can try booting in "safe mode" to bypass your display adapter drivers (correct me if I am wrong fellow smarter afterdawners)and go from there but, when I am confronted with a problem of this magnitude I will just reinstall windows. Set your bios options( by continually pressing the delete button during post, which occurs shortly after powering the computer on)to have the cd-rom (or dvd rom, whichever you are inserting your windows disk)as first boot device, search and you will find it. Reboot with windows disk in and it will ask you to "hit any key to boot from cd rom" do it. Wipe that shit.

cheers mate i have never done a format before is there a guide or a step by step kind of guide where as i can read off it & try it out, because if i try this without the knowledge i might wipe everything off,ive tried safe mode when it asks you what do you want to do after it asking you is it xp windows or Microsoft recovery,i clicked xp then i clicked f8 trouble shooting,

now i clicked yes to a box that said if you want it in safe mode click yes after that a black screen came up & then it stayed there & on the top of it it said safe mode (Microsoft)R windows xp (R)(build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe. 070227-2300: service pack 2) safe mode.so i had to reboot again, where do i go from here, thats all the info i can give you to try to help me out,

then i clicked to do the boot in safe mode then you get a black screen pop up saying multi disk all the way down the page, but after it opened up onto the desktop no change,& i don't have a disk for windows xp professional, can you do it without a disk, you should be able to what do you say to that
i need to be sure that what am doing is correct,& if you or any other member can do that for me i would be very thankful to you all,
whats happened sinse late last night is that i think that the screen is not only flickering but also it disappears to quickly i said it did within 1 minute last night no sorry its every 10 seconds,

so theres nothing i can do on the desktop you are right it has to be from the booting side of it,that crazy white desktop recovery page is back ive had that before a few times,

when i click on it nothing happens, from 1 to 5 it tells you what to do to get back your active desktop, butt that screen only comes on your pc when you have a fatal error like i have,

if you have a step by step guide to doing a easy format of the drive so that i can keep it & use it for future use & if you can send me all the guides on rebooting not the one the one that takes 3 or 4 to 5 hours to re-format it,thats for advanced users, aka power users.is there anyone around at home now that can help me out

its been three days & only one kind person has replied, can someone from the site be willing to help me out with the problems ive listed above & help me out in a detalied guide, ive heard McAfee antivirus 2008 is meant to be good is that true, ive always used the free versions or what some people might call the altered versions aka crack versions, but i heard that they have a lot of spyware hidden in them & viruses,

so if you know about this can someone inform me if its worth me buying McAfee antivirus version 08.ive been told by a IT consultant that its the dogs bollu...

so if you can tell me weather or not its as good as what some people might say then i might try it out,do you have to renew the licence every year because if i do then i wont bother,i want to use one that once ive payed for it its free then for life with free permenent updates,& one that covers all the elements of the security that it states that it will protect you from, because some anti viruses are rubbish they don't detect nothing then others will detect a small persentage then the other ones will detect more,i really want one that really if possible can detect 95 % upwards & one that stops the intrugen before it gets onto your pc,& one that stops all pop ups like the adult ones that are tempting you to click onto there sight to get conned or for them to spread a virus to you along with spam malware spyware highjackers & id fraudsters
