I have 2 sony drives on my computer - a SONY CD-RW CRX230ED and SONY CD-RW CRX320E. I am trying to burn DVD and I have tried SONY DVD-R & SONY DVD+R 8X disks, but neither drive recognises the DVD disks, although they recognise TDK CD-R80 disks. I have used various software to try and burn movies I have downloaded - I have run these movies through VSO DIVX TO DVD,then used DVD Shrink and then am using DVD Decrypoter to burn, and have used other burning software but each time I am told the disk I have entered is not a writablke medium of the medium is not present. Is there a problem with these drives? i.e. I tyake it one of these drives should allow me to burn DVDs (that is what I aksed for when I bought the PC) Should I be able to burn DVDs on these drives and if so am I using the wrong disks? If so which disks do I need? ANY HELP PLEASE?? thanks
The second drive that you have listed is a cd-burner/dvd-rom drive. This means it can read dvd's, but not write them. So you do not have a dvd-burner, that's why it doesn't recognize blank dvdr media.
The drives you listed are not DVD rewritable drives, the CRX320E will read dvd's but will not write. Both drives will only write CD's.
Check out newegg.com They have some great deals and cheap fed ex shipping on benq 1620,nec 3520a,and pioneers. Some around $50! You've got the programs, the dvd-rom,just swap out a quality burner with one of your sony's. Good Luck
I agree with Saugmon, you really do not need two CD-RW drives, guess whoever sold you the computer did not understand your question.
