Hello. I recently bought a memorex external dvd burner. I don't know what model, but it is pretty nice. I think I paid 180 for it. Anyway, it says it burns dvd at 4x-16x. My problem is that I have been told to burn at 1x. Is there a way to make it burn slower, or is it just built to burn 1x quality at 4x speed. Thank You

It's certainly not bad to burn at 1x, but today, all recent burners, and especially your new burner have the capability of burning accurately at a much faster speed than 1x. 4x will burn the average 2 hour movie in 13 to 15 min., after compiling. 8x will burn the same movie in approx., 9 to 13 min. I never burn faster that 8x. [On a first copy, I always never burn faster than 4x.] Regards--

All my movies burn at 8X, except the DL discs, and they burn at 2.4X.
My speed is set to fastest, and I use 8X blanks.
So far, they all look perfect..............
