well it does. I have a compaq laptop and my drive keeps opening whenever. I need help it is driving me nuts.
Actually I was being serious, that can happen. It sounds like an electrical problem to be honest, so either take it in for repairs if under waranty, or get a new drive.
@RKOMO:If that is going to be your response to someone trying to help you, then I dont think you belong here. People spend their personal time on here trying to help people and they do it for free. If you cant respect that, then take a hike. What Ripper said is a possible scenario. The attitude is not welcome. Now, on to your problem. Is the drive ejecting, or is it not staying closed? Are you sure the latching mechanism is catching properly and there is nothing interfering with it closing completely? ~Rich
RKOMO - Maybe you're drive doesen't like you. Like most of us in this thread. Infact, If I had the same problem, then the FIRST thing I would assume the button is stuck. So next time, don't insult those who are trying to help you. It's one of the worst things you can do. -Mike
First off I am sorry for my comment. If it could be deleted I would welcome it. I have posted on here before and some one gave multiple stupid answers. I just thought that he was being a smart ass. That was the first thing that was checked. My drive keeps opening, it will stay shut for a while and every now and then it just pops open. Could it be a virus or a worm and how do I check for that. I have AVG and adaware.
cool, cheers for that. ps you can edit your own posts via the pencil icon at any time, if you wanted. not sure myself why the drive would do that unless it's faulty..
Well, does the drive eject, like the button was pressed, or does it just pop open? There is a difference here. If it is actually ejecting, it may be faulty hardware or a bug of some sort. If it is just openening, then there is something mechanincally wrong with the drive. ~Rich
Well thanks for the help. HP said that the drive was faulty and sent me a new one in less than 24 hours. Called them at 4 in the afternoon yesterday and it was here by 10 this morning.
