I have destoryed about 6 DVD-R's so far and I am at a loss as to why.

I never had a problem before.
I burn with a Dell Inspirion 8500 using a USB2.0 cable to an ecternal dvd burner.
I was using a Pioneer till it started to fail then I went ahead and bought a new NEC 3550A burner.
Well that didnt solve the problem and I got the same failer.
    Here is the log file.

Your Nero is several versions behind go here and update

    http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe

You need to free up some memory, shut down all unnecessary progs including spyware while burning

    Slow burn to 4X

You're using good media and your firmware is current, try these changes and see how you go.

    Heres a little about SCSI

    SCSI target error

    Error code:

    Problem:

    Solution:

Normally caused by CD-R or CD-RW media the recorder is unable to work with. Or the media could be defective, dirty or just not compatible with the recorder.

Cables are known to cause this: loose cables, damaged cables, loose power connectors, etc.

Defective recorders are known to cause this. Test with another demo software to rule out software as the cause. If two software programs have the same symptom, your recorder may need service.

If the drive is being polled by another software's driver, it could hang the bus. Uninstall any other CD recording software you may have had on your system, as well as Nero. Then use Registry cleaner software to clean you registry. At last try a fresh install of our latest Nero release.

    [bold]AND A LITTLE MORE[/bold]

    Solution:

If you do a search on SCSI Command Errors, you will find that many others have had the same issue as yours with USB Recorders, regardless of the software used. Meaning, it occurs with Nero, CD Creator, RecordNow, etc.

And the error message varies from SCSI Command Error, Bus Rest, etc...

In most cases, users have found that updating the drivers for the USB Controller resolves the issue. Other found a new External Chassis for the Recorder resolved the issue. And we provided a work around in our MMC.DLL file that causes our software to reissue the command till the recorder is free and accpets, instead of timing out so soon after a lack of response from the device. This resolved the issue for some, but not for others. This MMC.DLL file is part of Nero 6.6.0.3 and above builds.

Try to disconnected all USB devices except for the external DVD burner.

As a last resort, after trying the above solutions and others, they finally connect as an internal to the system and all issues are resolved.

    Great info.
I will go through it and do these thing.
But actually I was able to burn a dvd.
I went back and opened the Enterprise Edition of Nero,it semmed like it was an older version but the version number was the same.
I was able to brn a dvd with no problem.
Could it be that the Nero Start Smart program is a little different then the Enterprise Bero Burning Rom program is a little different?
    Thanks
    P.S.
    What a relief!
I hated throwing away perfectly good media.

I cant say that I've heard of that one, but if it works then I would stick with it. I mainly use NeroVisionExpress, there's a great guide by alkohol in my sig, might be worth a look. Happy burning.
