My DVD-RW Makes My System Crash!

When I put a blank CD-R in my Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105 drive it causes my computer to go blank, then a blue screen appears with white writing for a second and then restarts on me. The writing says something about BIOS and other stuff. Sometimes it will restart two to three times before it finally boots back on. This doesn't happen on my other CD-rom drive. I don't think its the media because I've tried different kinds. I don't think it's program related because it does this after a re-boot without any programs engaged. I uninstalled the drive through the System Properties dialog box but that didn't help either. Before I do a wipe out and reinstall I wanted to see if any of you guys out there can help me out. Thanks!

Are there any error mesages that appear before it crashes?

    Thanks for responding.

The monitor goes black, and then a blue screen appears with white writing that says something about the BIOS. I can't make out exactly what it says because the screen is up for half a second before the computer restarts.

This past weekend I replaced the drive with a new one, but that didn't fix it. It is still restarting on me when I put a blank disc in.

    Any ideas?

Hmmm, if you have tried a new drive, then I don't know what to suggest. All I can think of is a fresh windows reinstall....

    Sorry...

Yeah, wiping out the system should fix it. I was hoping I wasn't going to have to do that for obvious reasons.

    Thanks for helping!
