This is really important to me because I'm doing it for someone who is sick and doesn't have much longer to be with us. She's a gorgeous, wonderful person and she's still in her 30s!!..*total bummer* (women - get regular breast exams!)...Anyway...here's the deal:

I have an .avi file I converted to burn on a DVD. The specs of the AVI file are as follows:

    Resolution: 672x272
    FPs: 25.00
    BitRate: 1315 Kbps
    Quality Factor: 0.29 b/px
    Codec: XviD MPEG-4 codec

Audio is 2 change, 44,100 Hz sample rate, bit rate 119kpgs
    Codec: MPEG 1 or 2 Audio Layer 3 (MP3)

I used 3 different .avi converters and the last time I used a tutorial from this site. They all look great on my PC, but won't play in the DVD for my TV. I see .bup, .ifo, and .vob files just like on the DVDs I'm familiar with...but I get an Error message on my DVD each time I create a DVD.

Apps tried: Avi2DVD, WinAviConverter, and one other that I must have deleted..(since I can't find the app).

I've tried using different programs to burn the DVD...Nero and DVD Decryptor..no luck.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    TYPO ALERT AND UPDATE:

Audio is 2 change - should be - Audio is 2 channels (not sure how that happened)

    AND....

The other app I tried was: Video DVD Maker

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Hi there,

I use VSO ConvertXtoDVD to convert all my .AVI to DVD.

Has a built in burn engine also.

Make sure you make create the proper output (NTSC or PAL) depending where you live in the world.

Use good media, don't burn at MAX speed.

ConvertXtoDVD is not free, but you can run the demo for several days.

    Good luck !

Thanks...I'll see if I can get that and try it.

The odd thing is, I see all the files I would expect to see (.vob, .ifo, etc.)..although I don't know enough about it to inspect them.

And...it plays fine on my PC, just not on my DVD player.

I'm in the U.S....is that PAL or NTSC??..(I think it defaults to one or the other in my programs, but I don't remember which one).

    Thanks for the tip..

    cougar_ii - Hey!...that was it!!!!

I burned another copy and changed it from PAL to NTSC and it looks great on my home player.

This place rocks!!!...if any of you are ever in south Florida, stop by my place. I won't answer the door, but I'd like to get a look at you through the peephole..*chuckle* Just kidding!!

On a serious note, thanks again, you made my day and I really appreciate it.
