my external mouse does not work

i have a external mouse for my laptop becuase i dont like using the one on the laptop.
i was only using the mouse in the morning and it was working perfectly fine but i jus tried it now and it doesnt work i tried restarting the laptop and reconnecting the mouse.
can somebody tell me how to resolve this?

 

try the reset botton on the bottom of the mouse ,should be able to reset it with a ball point pen

 

there is no reset button on it.
it the mouse that came with my dell dimensions.

 

try another USB port or maybe the mouse is bad try another mouse
