My Hard Drive is making a funny noise

    From time to time it sounds like a marble is dropping inside my computer. I get an error that my hard disk can't be found. Is my hard drive shot? Can I fix it or do I have to buy a new one?

    Most likely the drive is shot. Recover what you can and get a new one :)

    Thanks Praetor. Since I have never done anything like that before I was wondering. Can I just move everything from my hard drive to my desk top? I don't have a CD burner. Sorry to bug you but this is new to me.

    You can move it to the desktop (assuming that it doesnt fail halfway though) -- however if you've only got one harddrive it wont matter much ... you will probably have to use another harddrive to back it up on
