Hi scrapmom, Your Log shows some Nasties. Let’s clear them and then we’ll work on your speed problem…. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt • Please post contents of that file in your next reply. Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop. • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results". • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts. • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall. Extra-Note: Please, DO NOT use ComboFix on your own. It is a very powerful tool designed to deal with sophisticated infections and if something goes wrong or you use it incorrectly, you could possibly lose the use of your computer. It is ONLY meant to be used under the direct supervision of a malware removal specialist. Please post back with a fresh HJT log, combofix log and malwarebytes log and we can go from there… 2OG

Hey scrapmom Forbidden??, Just what is it telling you? Some malware blocks the use of programs that can defeat it…. But there are ways around it.. If it has placed an entry in your Host file we may have to delete it.. First, here are 3 more links for ComboFix, see if you can get it from one of these: HERE HERE HERE Let me know…. That kind of action just tells me we need to run ComboFix. LOL 2OG
Ok, I clicked on the link and it is like it is downloading combofix, then a little box pops up that says "You cannot rename ComboFix as ComboFix (1). Please use another name, preferably made up of alpha numeric characters."
• Click START then RUN • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the /U, it needs to be there. • When shown the disclaimer, Select "2" Now download the latest version..
I sorry scrapmom, without sitting at your keyboard, it’s difficult to see the problem… My crystal ball is a little foggy. Lol If you can’t get ComboFix then do this: Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop. Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to the drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following : • Restart your computer • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually; • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear; • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter. • Choose your usual account. • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script. • Type Y to begin the cleanup process. • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot. • Press any Key and it will restart the PC. • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons. • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum). • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new Hijack This log
When I try to start in the safe mode, I choose my usual account and then a whole bunch of lines of things appear and then it won't let me do anything else.
Sounds like you may have some system problems.. Your HijackThis Log shows absolutely Nothing and, without another Log of some kind, I can do nothing. Do you have a Recovery Disc that was provided with the computer when purchased? Or, does it have a recovery partition on the HD? May be on there as D:\ Drive. Let me know and we’ll try to repair your operating system.
I really don't know. I can't find a disk. So I suppose I may need to contact the company and see if I can get another one. Thank you.
