Going to a new computer probably activated a security routine and you are being punished. The ipod assumed you were doing something ilegal so it shut its self down. 20% of the posts on this page are for this very same problem. One person admits moving a file from the ipod to an unathorized computer. I suspect the plan was to have you reset your ipod and that would be that. You would lose all your music and videos but your ipod would be OK. That is how the security routines used to work. Now by mistake or design the reset does not fix the problem. Because you can't connect with the computer you will not be able to get a fix. I have had an ipod for 4 year but would never buy another. Why would I buy something so consumed with punshing the owner? I will not pay extra for that!
