I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea what the heck is going on with my LG GSA-4160B dvd burner. For some reason it works fine with Sony and Phillips dvd+r's but it doesn't want to work with memorex dvds, does this just mean that memorex is too crappy? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
You might try upgrading the firmware to the latest firmware from: http://us.lgservice.com/ However, Memorex ARE crappy discs. They use discs from a variety of makers, some of which are disreputable e.g. CMC. Read my sig below about what media and burn speeds to use. There's no point in using cheap media when Verbatim and Taiyo-Yuden premiums are always on sale for the same price or even less.
