Hi all well i've used dvd shrink 3.1 since year dot then moved onto dvd shrink 3.2 and had no problems for months..... both are used in conjunction with nero. I'm running on windows xp pro with sp2. I now have for no reason "cyclic redundancy error" prime example is when i run dvd shrink, open disk, whilst analyzing is when the error occurs ! dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue "Data Error (cyclic redundancy check )".
Now after some length of reading on this forum I used the program "dvd decriptor", with these settings below

I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems.

so whilst running this software to rip (in either mode file or iso read) it keeps failing at the same point on several films.....the read rate goes to zero and the read errors climbs (2,3,4 etc retries).....

    any help would be appreciated.....

the films i am trying to back up are (both films belong to me as i only play back ups not my originals)
    The Sorcerer's apprentice
    The Last Airbender

if you need any more info please let me know.....thanks.

Most people don't use DVD Decrypter anymore. It is as useful to rip modern DVD's as Shrink is (meaning NOT VERY USEFUL).
Both programs have not been updated in years, and modern DVD's copy-protection has grown stronger and smarter.

Use AnyDVD or DVD Fab to strip copy-protections and rip to your hard drive, THEN try DVD Shrink.

So DVD Shrink is very useful as the material it's used to shrink hasn't change over the years. DVDD on the other hand IS outdated so just used DVDFab to bypass copy protections.

    1. DvdFab or AnyDVD
    2. Shrink
    3. Imgurn

I Would Leave Nero Out of the Loop.

I Did Those Titles With AnyDVD and Its Ripper.
