hellooo.. my moniter has gone blurred making it very hard to read without straining my eyes... its a Dell M991 [19" CRT] (68XTF21AG0N0)... i cant keep it like this its going to make my eyes bad or somthing... its not the graphics card.. i recently bought a new one and its the same.. and i reinstalled the moniter with the disk it comes with but it's still the same, i have to keep the brighness and contrast right down or i can't make anything out... does any one have any suggestions,i need an answer badly.. thanks chris
You could try a "Degausse"... The buttons on the front of your monitor should bring up a menu when pressed, then their should be an option of somsort to "Degausse", try that, it maybe a "U" shaped magnet symbal with a cross through it..... If not your monitor could be belly up.... You could try the monitor on another PC if you can then you will be sure! : )
erm... i just tryed both of those... the degease thing i think has made it worse.. i tryed the refresh rate on 60.. and it was just the same except i could feel the screen refreshing.. it made me feel horrible... its probably broken knowing my look... i just remembered that its been that way since my brother moved it around the house to test his computer with.. he might have knocked it and damaged somthing in side... dam him!
This happened to my Dell tv/monitor and i tried for hours with no luck to get it fixed, including reinstalling new drivers etc before i got it to clear up. If yours has a remote control, go to menu and then imaging settings and then finally Auto Adjust. Worked like a charm. If not, it might be time for a new one Good luck!
i just had a look for image settings but i couldn't see it.. gathering restore to factory defaults will work the same way tho... it didn't seem to fix it looks like i'm gonna have to buy a new one before i go blind.. does anyone know anything about how moniters are made?.. maybe i can get it repaired..
Smooshie Check your settings and see if you can adjust the sharpness, brightness, and contrast. If you brightness is turned up too high and your contrast is turned to low then that could cause it to blur. Now for the bad news. A monitor that's beginning to blur may be on its last leg. How long have you had it?
i've probably had the moniter for about 3 or so years... i just tried looking for some sharpness settings and i cant see anything there.. the contrast and brightness is turned down to about 50% each making my screen quite depressingly dark.. but its not as blurrled this way
i just found this setting 'Ajust miore'or somthing which seems to alter the sharpness and softness. its already sett basicaly to the lowest (sharpest) i just increase it and i swear it looks like i'm looking through glasses with the wrong lenses, its crazy blurred
ok i just did that turned it right up and left brightness at 50, it still went blurrled, but allso changed alot of black colours to red, or started making the screen colours go wierd
Smooshie Do what you can to use it as long as you can but I'm afraid you're going to have to buy a new monitor. There is one last thing that could be checked. shut down your PC and check your connection to your graphic card.
yeah.looks like i need a new one then.. i already checked the the graphics card and even changed it.. so i don't think its that.. it doesn't matter then.. thanks for youir help
heh heh i can fix that you cannot it's dangerous your problem is the high volt side take the back off look for the transformer thats usually covered in dust with a thick wire coming out of it put your monitor in the bin however if you like risk..... there are two sometimes three 'pots' adjusters, one of which will sharpen your picture but use something non metallic it gives one hell of a kick i use a 5000 volt screwdriver although if i shorted it i think it would melt
pcrepair Aren't pots adjustable switches? They have to be or they wouldn't be pots. LOL Where exactly is this pot inside the monitor (potentiometer)?
they are actually on the side of the high tension transformer if you are carefull you can get a spark from the transformer to the end of your screwdriver but it's not really a good idea the transformer usually has a guard round it
the flyback transformer will either be on the left ot right side of the power & video cables. it will have about 2 pots in it besides about 6 on the circuit board. i've adjusted the flyback transformer before to get the sharpness back.
pcrepair Considering that his monitor is otherwise useless what's the harm? The shock that you're referring to is the tubes capacitance?
