My MPEG rolls up the screen and jitters. How do I fix this?

    I have a very bad VHS rip that flickers and rolls so much it's almost unwatchable. I would like to be able to make it still.

    I'm looking for some software (preferably free and easy to use) that would enable me to steady out the image.

    Any ideas?

    You'd be best trying to get hold of another copy of the VHS movie- if the distortion is in the rip you have absolutely no chance of smoothing it out.
