My computer recognizes my new external BenQ LS DW1655, but all software for burning onto LightScribe disk are not recognizing any LightScribe drives. I keep getting the dreaded [bold]LightScribe engine error[/bold] No lightscribe drive on this system. I did what LS.com asked for..... went to Admin.tools (from Control Pannel), Services and made sure that the LightScribeSevice is started and in Automatic. I even restarted it! Still Nero ver. 6.6.1.4 doesn't recognize my drive as a lightscribe drive, SureThing CD Labeler 4 SE doesn't recognize my drive as a lightscribe drive, and I'm about to give up. I know my drive is an external with a Galaxy encasing that was bought from Merritline.com: http://www.meritline.com/combo-benq-dw1655-and-galaxy-5-25-enclosure.html maybe whent they installed the 1655 into the case they didn't set a jumper or something like that that would enable the drive to be seen as a Lightscribe drive? The computer recognizes it, and I already burned a few DVDs, but Nero stopped when I was burning an MP3 DVD. Nero OEM was the software that came with the drive. I also downloaded the LS software update and it was successfully installed..... and I also upgraded my firmware from BCGB to BCHB (the lastest firmware update for this drive, according to the FIRMWAREPAGE). Can anyone help me out. Would love to use all the capabilities of my new drive.
i dont know the problem but i dont use nero's lightscribe program cuz it kinda blows try using surething cd labeler u can download it for free at alot of places it works 100 times better just look thru google for it.....so u can try using it to see if it's just nero or the drive i dont know just tryin to help...
I've been up most of the night and been playing around all day with it.... here are some scans...... this is only the 3rd and 4th disk I recorded from it, one from AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 the other from DVDRebuilder Pro/CCE ..... not bad scores but thought I would do better.... maybe when it's broken in after a few hundred disks recorded I'll get better write strategies from it with higher scores:
no worries IHoe, i'm assuming you are using QSuite v2.1? do you have the "solidburn" utility turned "ON" to "learn" your media? i wouldn't say a hundred pieces of a particular media is necessary before you see some improvement, i usually give it about 20-50 before i DETERMINE FOR MYSELF whether i should use a diff. firmware or not to see if it improves any~ or before i consider re-flashing it again to see if it helps... what speed are you burning the MCC004s at? are you still sticking with @8x on those YUDEN000T02s? if you are, give it a few more pieces for SB to "kick in", your quality scores are VERY GOOD considering it's brand new burner~ right outta da box (no pun intended due to ur enclosure) docTY
the LightScribe Verbatim DVD+R, 16x (the MCCs) I burn at 8x.... the YUDEN000T02s I can only burn up to 8x on those so I cut it down to 4x. I do have the QSuite 2.1 and Solid burn is turned on! I'm still learning it and having fun. I will get the lightscribe to work, I'm determined to get it all! hahahahaha it's just a matter of tweaking and doing! It will happen. Even if I have to take that beautiful enclosure off and stick the drive internally (which it is an internal DVD writer). It will work that way. But I like the variety now to have 2 burners and I want to try out the multi burn option in Nero! It's all fun now!
IHoe, Try burning those YUDEN000 T02's at 8x. I was burning my MCC003's at 4x and 6x but realized through trial and error that they scanned out better when burned at 8x. I think the same will apply for your TY's and I'll bet kivory will back me up on this. Also try a couple scans at 4x instead of 8x and see what they look like.
you have officially been "backed up" my friend Mort81~ just got online to check out the forums and this thread popped out at me, but ya beat me to it! docTY
