Someone is selling me a brand new custom built PC with brand new parts for 1350$ CAD. Do you think it's a good deal, it has this configuration: Motherboard: GIGA GA-MA69GM-S2H AMD690G CPU: Amd Athalon 64X 5000+ 2.60Ghz (dual-core) RAM: 2048MB (2x1GB) PC-5400 HD: 2x250GB SATA 7200rpm OR 74GB 10,000rpm for 30$ more Graphics Card: Sapphire HD3850 256MB or 512MB for 35$ more Optical: CD/DVD/DVD-DL burner SATA Screen: Acer 19in Widescreen 1440x900 Native Resolution OS: Genuine Microsoft XP Home SP2 or Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. May I please have your opinion on this? The guy I am buying it from said he could change parts if I want so if you suggest something else, I'll ask for the new price and update the thread.
Without pulling links up, I can say that guys making about 200-300$ off you. why does he want to build with AMD, while Intel's most inexpensive Core2Duo chips would smoke them in terms of speed, power consumption and heat? I'd choose neither OS and go with XP Pro but thats my preference, if you are a gamer I'd choose Vista because of DX10 but if you were a gamer you'd get a video card a little stronger than the HD3850 (3870)
You could probably build a PC that fast yourself (without the OS, because XP professional is better than both those options) for well under $1000. http://www.ncix.com http://www.futureshop.ca
Why would XP pro be better? Also, why would the most inexpensive Intel chip be better? Isn't the speed dependant on the clock speed? Let's say it was a Core2Duo 1.8Ghz vs the 2.6Ghz AMD 5000+ wouldnt the AMD be better? Also, there is an option for 64bit, what is that? Is it better?
I built my system for $1389, Intel Quad Q6600 @ 3ghz ASUS P5K-E HIS ATI RADEON 3870 (ICEQ3) WD AAKS 320GB (5.9 Vista Score) NZXT Blackline Case Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Cooler Arctic Silver 5 OCZ 2GB 6400 800Mhz 4-4-4-15 S-FLEX 1600RPM Corsair HX 520W PSU Pioneer 18X SATA That price you are paying is a rip off. Find somewhere else.
Where should I buy my parts from, I live in Montreal, Quebec. I found microbytes, montreal's computer warehouse (www.microbytes.com) I bet that's where my guy is getting his parts. Please go to microbytes.com and see if those prices are good or if you can find me a good place for cheap parts that is available to me in Montreal Quebec in Canada.
