I have been converting avi's>mpeg>dvd for a little while now, but recently my burned discs will play on my computer but now on my standalone's. I tried some of my old converted avi files and burned them, and they play fine on my standalone.
Here is the process I used for my most recent burn...

I used virtual dub to join to avi files together
changed the 4cc code form XVID to DIVX
converted the avi file with VSO DIVX to DVD
used tmpgenc dvd author to create chapters/author
used nero burning rom to burn my final vob/vts files

This is the same process that I have used for countless other avi files, and they have all worked perfectly and played in my standalone.....now my standalone just says "no disc"...What is going on?? Thanks in advance!

    something similar happened to me..
    What speed are your discs?
I started with a stack of 100 8x, burned fine and played on my standalone
I went through those, and i found a stack of 100 16x dvds of the same brand, just a little bit faster.. So i burned at 16x, then it didnt play in my dvd player. I found that if i burned at 4x it worked everytime.

Basicly my advice is burn at a lower speed, although i could be wrong.
