I recently borrowed a Canon MV6i digital camcorder from a friend. When I tried to connect it to a PC via a Firewire-to-USB cable, the PC failed to recognize the camcorder asa USB device. Is this a problem with the cable or the camcorder itself. FYI, the Canon camcorder was purchased in Asia and it was a PAL system. Does this matter?

    Please help.

i dont know if this will help but i bought a dvd burner a little while ago and my pc didnt recognize. So i called the store where i bought it from and they said to bring it back cause its possibly a defect. Sure enough i exchanged it for the exact same one and it worked fine,

There is no such thing as a USB to Firewire cable. Either you use USB or Firewire. The last one is th preferred method. For USB you need drivers installed and even then it may not work with many applications.
