Hi. I have purchesed a new modem for my computer. I bought a Conextant 56k V.92 PCI modem. My PC runs on 400 mhz PII processor and windows 98 OS. However, my PC does not detect my modem at all with even plug & play. I cant even run installation disk because it tries to detect the modem but fails. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for all those who respond =)
Have you tried to go into your device manager, which is in control panel system, and seen if your drivers are there or not if you have incorrect dvrs installed right click then click properties then reinstall or update drivers see what happens.
hey, nope the modem driver does not show up in the device manager because there is no driver installed because the computer cannot detect the modem.
reseat the card as it happened to a customer of mine when he tried to install his card, he didn't seat it all the way in so wouldn't detect. reseated & motherboard saw it. try another slot & try it in another computer to see if it detects it or not as you might have a buggered modem even if new.
Yup, I have put the modem in the other slots and still wont detect. I have also put it in another computer however the other computer was able to detect the modem. So...i dont know whats wrong...
what is the system requirements for the modem as i've seem some that required a certain speed but your should be all right.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Pentium II compatible processor and above 64 mb ram and more 50 mb of free disk space cd-rom drive OS Support: Windows 9x Windows ME Windows 2000 Windows NT Windows XP I have all of these requirements set.
than your motherboard or your other cards don't like conexant modems. try lucent or intel modems. also check for bios update for motherboard. remove all cards except video to see if motherboard sees it & try another videocard.
Do you have an option in you bios for Plug & Play OS??????? If you do then make sure it's set to yes!!!
