Hi, I just bought a Memorex Blu-ray player to substitute my dvd player. Problem is the subtitle button on remote won't activate srt (my older dvd player did it)... Of course I have avi and srt files in same folder, with same filename. Now, this blu-ray player plays everything...but the srt files. I've tried different programs to create a merged file, to no aval; the srt is always "selectable", not permanent, so I can't watch the subtitles. Any ideas or sugs on how to solve this? Thanks!

The player obviously supports subtitles, otherwise you'd have no sub button. I don't see why it wouldn't, is a very simple format, but does it support srt?(look in the manual).
Did you try different AVIs with different subtitles(maybe one of your srt had some errors or something).
Is the remote sub button actually working?

Yes. The remote "subtitles" button works with normal DVD's and blu-ray discs, but it won't work with my avi files with srt subtitles. I don't know the reason for this but it is exactly as I described. My former PHILIPS DVD player did it fine, this MEMOREX won't.

Are you sure it supports subtitles for the Divx files?

No, I'm not sure and the manual does not mention it either.
What I'm trying to find is how to make those subtitles "permanent" on my avi files.
I've tried different software to no avail; all of them don't embed the subtitles in the avis, they just add the srt's to the avis, but you still need to select them with the remote in order to see them.
Does anyone know of a software that ACTUALLY put the subtitles (srt) on the image forever? I think it is the only way to see them with my player.

    Thanks

    What software did you try?
AviRecomp and VirtualDub for example will hardcode subs for you.AutoGK I think can do that too. All free.

AviRecomp is a very good program and can do a lot-add subs, crop/resize, custom file size...

What player do you have? Strange that it would not accept removable subs for AVis...

It is a Memorex Blu-Ray player, but it plays also avis, etc, and also has USB input for playing files from a USB stick or external HD

AVIRECOMP is still working, it works slow here...let's see what happens...

    Hi, Cyprusrom!
I did it with AVI RECOMP. Wow! It took a while (almost 3 hours) but worked fine.
Thanks a lot for your help.
