My usb converter doesn't download the software why ?

    I have bought a serial to usb converter and assigned it as a com 2 port, when i press the download button it stays at 0 percent and after a bit says the transfer failed.can any one help plz or has any one come across the same problem ..

    re-assign it to COM 1 and try again
