I had my personal VHS tapes put on dvds and the company copy protected them and now I'm trying to colaborate different parts of the those dvds on to one dvd and dvd recorder keeps saying that I cant because the source is copy protected which sucks because my family and I are the original authors. the dvds I had made, I tried re-burning with dvd decrypter and that worked through the 1st dvd and now I'm having trouble with the 2nd any suggestions. I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance
IF a company protected these tapes, Why and with what? What does the company say? We don't know the recorder being usd. Are you sure that the tapes are protected. There have been reports that some recorders will miss-read some Home videos and think they are protected. This may be related to the use of + disks
Well the dvd recorder is a Toshiba D-KR2 and the media is Verbatim +R. Do you think the media is the problem Let me know I do have the same brand -R. So I can you those if needed and also I don't know if this matters but I have Norcent dvd player hooked up to the dvd recorder to use as the playing source. Thanks in advance
edited response I am really not sure why they would, like you said it could just be the recorder not allowing me to record from a dvd player are the media who knows. I don't. I just know that it worked through one dvd and 1/2 way through the 2nd I started getting the message "the source is copy protected" and that the recorder would not allow me to continue. The specificatioms for the Toshiba D-KR2 Indicate that it records to a -R disk with a question as to a -RW. The use of + disks may be your problem, although It would seem to me that you should be getting a wrong disk message rather than copy protect. I don't have an answer as to why you get halfway through a +R disk on this machine. A Toshiba player was one unit that I found would not play a + disk
the record media is -r and the the original disks that I recieve from the company were re-burned on to +r media. If thats understandable
YES It Would appear that "the company' played , riped or whatever your original -R disk and recorded it to a +R disk. I would try to play the disk in another player that you know will accept a +R disk. If it doesnt work contact the Company that made it. I'm sorry what I meant was that I re-burned the media onto +r and then tried to burn them again onto -r in the recorder. I'm not sure what the originals are on; and in my qoute I meant that the recorder was toshiba and the media that "I" had re-burned the dvd originals to was +r.
