My XBOX I guess is old, but it is definately not very damaged. It's just that for some reason it won't read disks. Brand new or old. It does sometimes but it's very rarely and I'd have had to had tried a few times. I know it sounds like a simple problem but I am good with software and just can't figure out the problem. I tried the lense cleaners and all... anyone got an idea?
what kind of media are u using, CDR, CDRW, DVD -R or +R, or original DVDs and Audio Discs? The xbox naturally has trouble reading recorded media espicially CDR/RW disc. Try sticking to blank DVD media and use branded ones too instead of generic cheap blank discs. Same goes for CDR/RW and burn at slow rates, they tend to be more reliable
i mean it won't read anything now. it used to read my xbox game, just my ncaa marchmadness 2004, and one of my audio cd's. the last few new games i got it just plain and simple wouldn't read them. I'm ready to just go get a new one, but sometimes it reads my other game, the one i mentioned before, and i got that only 3/4 months ago. So I don't want to throw it away if it isn't broke you know.
I mean I won't read XBOX games, DVD's, CDs that aren't burned. I just need help man, lol. do i need a new xbox.
If your box is still under warranty, i would return it for repair, especially if it was an early box because there were some that were faulty and called back. If not, and you trust other people to play with your box? I would recommend getting that laser checked and changed. But my recommendation would be to send it for repair by an authorized repair shop
The other thing you could do...put a Samsung 605 in it. My old Philips started giving dirty disc errors so I found a used Samsung for $70. It reads everything now and installation was simple--two wires to plug in.
this samsung thing, is it going to override the installed disc reader in my xbox and read all the disks I use on it including xbox games? If so what exactly am I looking for if I was to go get one?
Hotpantz by just going out and getting a new Samsung drive you could be fixing your brakes when your engine is the problem. Have you cleaned out all the dust in your fan area? If you are having problems playing the originals then this is more than likely your problem. Secondly, if you have a EB around you they usually have a deal where they will trade in your broken Xbox for a new Xbox. I traded in my Japanese Playsation 2 with a modchip installed cause I didn't have the modchip that would play DVD back ups and the store gave me a $125 credit at the time so you never know. Also, you might be able to buy a warranty for your Xbox through them. However, if your Xbox is already modded then I would suggest the fan idea first then see from there.
That helped a lot. Cuz I do recall dusting my brother's PS2's fan and it worked better. But how am I supposed to actually get to where the fan is and clean it. Cuz nothing I have actually reaches down in there an I don't know how to take the lid off
hey man all u have to do to get the lid off is rip open a little bit of the sticky soft pads and unscrew all t he screws on the bottom and it pops off. Ur gonna have to figure the rest of the shit out urself but my exbox does the exact thing....i need help
