My friend gave me his xbox so i could mod it for him. I was hesitant to decide how to mod the xbox. Finally, I decided to SOFTmod it using SID 4.0. To do this, I successfully made a Xbox->computer usb adapter; obtained action replay software and the game MechAssualt; and purchased an used 8mb memory card. With some trial & error, I ultimately got drivers to work for the controller and card. Then I was able to copy SID 4.0 onto the 8mb memory card. The only thing that was needed to be done was connect the card and the controller to the xbox, and pop in MechAssault. So yeah, I did that, but then tragedy arrived. My hard drive was annihilated by error message 07- HDD TIMED OUT. I literally through my controller and cracked my TV. I was pissed. So i am wondering,.. What should/can I do? I don't have a second xbox. I can't find a xbox hdd replacement. I dont know how to fix the broken hard drive. is it possible to replace the broken one with a seagate or a maxtor hdd-without a softmodded xbox? im in need for desperate help.
Sadly the only answer is either a modchip or an eeprom reader! You need to salvage the eeprom to get another HDD to work with your Xbox, a modchip allows you to bypass this altogether!
