my xbox tries to boot like 3 times and then starts blinking red and orange

when i try to power on my xbox, it tries to boot up like 3 times and then after the third time it starts blinking red and orange. The strange thing about this is that i have never put a mod chip or anything in my xbox. Can somebody tell me what to do to fix this. THANKS!

 

check your ribbon cable to the hard drive and dvd rom.
- it could be a hard drive failure
- it could be dvd rom failure

mostly it is the hard drive.

 

thanks man i am gonna try it. i tried to just mess with the power cord in the back after tearing the box apart to find something wrong with it. so when i put it together and played with the power cord it turned on. it turned off about 25 minutes later and a jacked around with the power cord again and it worked fine for almost 24 hours. Now it wont work anymore and is still doing the same thing. I'm waiting for my new power cord from microsoft so i think that may be it but if not then i will def. give your gig a shot. thanks again man
