I bought a new system about a month ago, and I've been having some strange internet problems. I tried updating the drivers for my network card and I have all my windows updates but nothing has helped. It's a Gateway DX4300 with an AMD Phenom Quad-Core CPU (2.4 GHz) and 8 GB RAM. It has an ATI Radeon HD 4650 with an extra GB of dedicated video memory. I'm running 64-bit Vista Home Premium (which many would say is my first problem, but hey that's how they sell systems now). As far as protection and optimization goes I use WinPatrol, AVG, ZoneAlarm, SmartDefrag & Spyware Guard & Blaster. Now on the meat of the problem (I'll post my Hijack log at the end). Basically, I'll be surfing along (this happens in both IE8 & Firefox) and suddenly a page will begin to load VERY slowly. At first this doesn't seem to out of the ordinary because pages will do that from time to time and you just have to refresh them, but in this case that doesn't work. Any page I try to open will do this until I finally get a "cannot find page" white screen. Typically if this happens for one browser I can't access the net through the other browser either. I've tried repairing my connection, which detects no problem with page is just hung but once the net finally goes out it says that ""url" Not set-up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web service (HTTP)"". It furthermore says this problem cannot be fixed automatically. I've tried dis/reconnecting to the net, dis/re-enabling my internet connection, using ipconfig /release /renew. NOTHING works. Seemingly the only way to correction the problem is to restart the computer. Now for some oddness, this seems to only affect outgoing packets. If I've started a download and continue surfing while it works, but the internet stops before the download finishes it will continue uninterrupted even though I can no longer access any browsers. Messenger services also seem to work so it could be a browser problem and not a net one, but then why does it affect both browsers? On that note some things that may or may not be related: I've noticed that IE stays in my processes even after I close it, but it starts a new process for every new browsing session. Also my computer doesn't seem to like P2P programs (something to do with the 64 bit compatibility problems?). I've tried using LimeWire, FrostWire, BitLord, & µTorrent. Each and every one of them freezes up and crashes on my system and I can't imagine why. My last system was 5 years old and was only a quarter of a machine this one is and it ran this stuff just fine. Like the internet problem it is very random. Sometimes the program will run for hours and sometimes minutes. Both can mess up during activity or while I'm away. Both problems do not always occur together. I haven't even been using any of the p2p stuff for a while but still; get net issues.
