Hi guys New to this forum! Well basically i have got my pace NTL: box chipped and the card chipped aswell. I paid £40. What i wanted to know is. * How long does this update tend to last for? * If the box/card stops working can i update it again via my computer instead of paying £40 again? * Is there anyway of NTL: detecting the chipped box as I use their broadband service which i pay for monthly? I use a Pace DiTV-1000 box and a NTL: digital smartcard. Purple and Green colour. Any replies will be greatly appreciated. Satdude10
Is the "Modem" light (middle one) flashing on the front of the box constantly? If it is, it means the return path has been cut. If it's not cut, they'll be able to tell that you're using a chipped box as it regularly relays viewing data back to the N*L servers, if you're watching a channel you shouldn't be, they'll pick up on it sooner or later. If it has been cut, the TVOD service won't work (unless they've managed to get round this somehow). Back in November they shut down all of the chipped boxes simply by changing the card system, which means you'll have to spend £40 buying a new one. You'd have been better off spending £100 and getting a Starview.
Yes the middle light is always flashing. Just a couple a hours ago the box froze and i rebooted it. The problem is when i rebooted it the middle light flashes and then it stops flashing and then the box is constantly stuck on the page where it says "powering up, just a moment" I've tried rebooting it for ages now and the same steps happen: 1. Box load up, middle light flashing 2. Middle light stops flashing and box freezes on "powering up, just a moment" page. Can somebody please urgently help me on this problem please! Thank you.
Unless you know how to update a subbed card or funcard you will have to pay for someone else to do it or spent quite a while learning how to do it yourself. And again you buy the card reader and box/cards it is much cheaper/easier to buy a Starview.
So if you have a starview and it scrambles or you can't pick channels up as the provided have done a fix, what are your options? Do you just rescan and it picks all the channels up again?
Basically if it was a keychange and you have the right firmware it will automatically update the codes for you. If it is a frequency change a factory reset and rescan will have the same effect. So the answer is yes it will find the channels for you.l
