Has anybody in Dublin being having problems with The Box? I am wondering if N*L are getting better at scrambling....Any thoughts
I live in the dublin 15 area and my box has been updating a few time a day for the last 3 days it only takes 5-10 minutes and it works fine after so i can live with that.
Please consider updating to the auto roll firmware You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder. You will need version 2.57_FIXED firmware for CLONES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.
how do you know which starview you have in order to update your software? my box is about 9mths old and am having to input codes more and more often and it displays bad or srambled channel every couple of minutes
have a look at celtic 71`s post above your one. there is a link at the bottom. "clone/genuine comparison"
have checked, mine is not a clone, where do i find updated firmware please go easy on me i'm not technical !
lol, neither am i. you`ll find all the info at the bottom of celtics post in the "eamos library" link.
have looked in link, my starview is API ver 260_E boot ver 7.0 and i cant see this listed and if i do i dont know what to do next, sorry if i'm trying the patience of all, i appreciate your help.
You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F. Null Modem Cable http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx...t10&doy=search&MenuName=USB to Serial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library. You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link. You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder.
Updating Firmware Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY. (The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM) Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC. Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC. Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV
No problem and well done Press Menu > System Information and check what the API is , if it says 4.00e_E , then you have the auto roll firmware installed
