N*L in paper today

In paper today that n*l are really pissed at the amount of people with boxes and are goin to prosecute all us bad people.

 

ok i've got one of these for a while and am wonderin how they can find all the people who use these boxes. Can anyone tell me? all this clampdown talk has me slightly worried...

also, some n** guy called to the house the last day and went up a ladder to the outside connection thing. we didn't call them to check the line or anythin. is this how they check if you're usin the box??

 

No they can't tell if you are using a box,the only way they can tell is if you let them in and they see it.
There's always talk of boxes being shut off/virus being sent down the cable etc etc by N*L,pay no attention as I said they can't detect them unless they come into your house and see it working,so relax

 

thanks for the quick reply, i was just worried by gettin a callout from an n*l guy, i mean when there's a problem with the line it takes them weeks to fix it. never mind the box been shut off etc, lot of talk about prosecutions and stuff...?

there's probably a million reasons but any idea what he could've been doin with the connection up the ladder?

 

Did he actually call to your door and say that he was going up to look at the connection ?
If he didn't your neighbour could have had a problem with his connection and the N*L guy could have just put the ladder in the wrong garden thinking he could get a better look at the connection from your side.
Yes you can be fined if caught with one of these boxes but they have to prove you're using one only way they can do that is see it set up in your house.

 

ya he called to my door, i just let him up, didn't really think about it at the time.

 

Should have asked him what was wrong,I'd say he was just checking the strength of the signal coming down the cable for your block of houses or side of the road,they must be getting complaints of dropped signals in your area.He can't tell from putting a meter into the connection whether you have a box or not.

they are upgrading the cables in a lot of areas at the moment so i wouldnt panic, just make sure you keep the cutains closed! lol
