    Hiya dougal58,

Looks like a media error to me!!

    Either:
1 - the media is no good (datawrite red)
2 - the media is not really compatible with your burner
3 - your burner needs a lens cleaning
4 - your burner is on the blink
5 - you are burning way too fast for the burner/media combination
    6 - Windows is hosed!!

Almost ALL CRC errors are caused by one or more of the above.

    Have Fun...

Datawrite Reds are known to be terrible blank media !!!

Ritek G04 is what I always suggest to people :)

When I was getting (cyclic redundancy error with shrink, and i/o error with decrypter)it was because i had a bad original, although it didn't look like it, it does have a scratch somewhere. good luck

    Hiya,
But do you perform a verify as part of the burn procedure?

I ALWAYS DO, it adds time to the whole process, but what use is a burn that cannot be accessed correctly??

    Have Fun...

dougal58: Depends on which country you're in mate ;)
    If in U.K. though , I recommend http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk
RiDisc / RiData / Arita etc ... there are quite a few brands that use the Ritek G04 dye : ]-~

As [bold]drchips[/bold] has quite rightly stated you can always do a verify on your burn , does take 10-15 mins extra ... but hey that way you know you have a successful back up (personally I only use it to verify data DVDRs I burn , using Bulkpaq Orange).
I use G04 discs for DVD-Video & trust them not to have any errors ... 99% of the time my trust is well placed :)

    Hiya,

When it comes to Nero, you would be a lot better off with Herbsman guiding you (I use Nero for everything BUT DVDs).
This points towards a setting in Nero being suspect (or you are choosing the wrong mode).

Hopefully Herbs will pick this up.

    Good Luck...

    Okay here I am ! : )

Dougal , explain to me what you're trying to copy & how.
And if you are able , tell me how the original back up was done.
Also what settings & modes you use to burn DVD-Video...

Give as much info as humanly possible mate ;)

    Hi herbsman,
I first copied peter kay live using only decrypter,no compression required, ripped in iso mode, write in iso mode,my decrypter settings are set according to doom9s guide,i'm using btc dvdrw x8 writer, and lite-on it reader, both brand new,i can rip any of my original dvd's no problems whatsoever,i have basically been copying some of my originals for my daughters,i could copy any copies a couple of days ago so i don't understand what's gone wrong, when decrypter starts ripping i am getting reading speeds of anything up to 11x,even copies i have copied before don't copy now.i read somewhere about turning everything off where do i turn everything off? msconfig or task manager?even though i did'nt have to turn everything off before.
    i'm using windows xp.
    fairly new machine good spec.
i've tried shrink also getting error messages from there.
drchips said something about nero not being configured properly, which is probably right but that should'nt affect the ripping process should it?
    aAll help appreciated herbsman.THANX MAN.

Think it's best we check that hardware is working correctly before we blame any software ;-)
