Is there any news on where we are as in regards to N3 being cracked? Things seem to have gone very quiet in that area. Does this mean that it's virtually uncrackable? Is the Starview6 gonna be the only way to get all channels back on cable? I really miss the excitement of putting the latest fixes on all the different boxes that used to work.I used to be quite the hero in the local neighbourhood. lol.

nope, wont be cracked by the looks of it, the SV6 is working, but only on the 6887 network not 6875 and the older boxs can be sold as doorstoppers.

6887 is the symbol rate ntl ireland works on. 6875 is chorus.

If your on NTL. Mostly, its's Dublin on 6887.

Update: In answer to the question all channels are on the one symbol rate by area.

6887 is the symbol rate that ntl broadcasts on in most areas in Ireland. It has nothing to do with being able or not able to receive premium channels. The starview 6 cable box works on this. However it doesn't work on chorus because they use a different symbol rate. ie 6875.

So, if I were to get a Starview 6 box, would this still work after the Nagra 3 encryption goes live here?

I am in St. Albans and N3 has just started to kick in. I am already majorly missing the movie channels and was watching the pacific series on premiere. If i am to buy a starview 6 box will it still work even though we have moved to N3 , and how do you find out what symbol rate you are on ? Regards Dean.

How long did it take in ireland for someone to find this work around ? As i dont want to be tied in to a 12 month contract with someone and then a new box/fix is released.

august last year when Ire went N3, Feb of this year before the SV6 was released, but like anything, how long will it last, there will be nox fixs for boxs out now, so its either a lan type box like the SV6 or Sat using card share

no HD on cable boxs at the min, HD on sat using card share (which we are not allowed to talk about), cost of the SV6 covers the cost of box and share. But on Sat if you go the way CS, you prob will have to pay for the share
