Pioneer units have a Navigation DVD with them... the dvd is 6.3 Gigs...Is there anyway to shrink this, or does anyone know what files can be taken off and the DVD still work?? I need to figure out some way to back this up with a single layer dvd burner...

actually you probably wouldn't wanna take anything out. if you have dual layered dvd burner, you can use that. dvd shrink is probably your best bet but i wouldn't recommend shrinking. i believe everything is dependent on the other file. i haven't ripped a navigation dvd lately so im not the expert.

    hi

navigation dvd? is it some sort of film? have you tried it?

also if useing this disc on a pc, dont put it on disc! rip as iso and use nero virtual drive to load it and use it!

(the iso thinks its a dvd then and plays! - i use this feature for testing ripped films before burning to disc)

Out of curiosity what happened to the original. These discs are like $300 a piece and a replacement can cost up to $65.

i don't think the disc is meant to be shrunk in anyway. your best bet is to beg for another copy from the dealer.

Its a disc used for navigation in some cars.

i actaully got a copy of one for my neck of the woods. The guy who gave it to me swears that you can copy it using just simple copy and that the files are just reference points for the micro computer in your car.

Have you tried the direct copy method, and i dont mean shrink it either. It mat say 6.3 gig but is it.

Another option is to get a dual layered disc and take it to some one who does have a dual layered burner and see if they can accomodate you

I am in the same boat. I have attempted to burn a double layer DVD and it is not recognized by the cars DVD navigation system.

If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.
